Ned and the Night Sounds
Ned’s long ears keep finding sounds at bedtime. A short walk with Mum helps him discover who is rustling, tapping, and singing outside their stable.
Ned had two long ears. One could listen towards the window while the other listened towards the door. Tonight both were busy. Tap, said something beside the window. Shhh, said something outside. Chirrup, said something farther away. Ned stood in his straw with his eyes wide open. “I am sleepy,” he told Mum, “but my ears aren’t.” Mum lifted her head. One of her ears turned towards the window too.
